In reports from ESPN it appears that the head coach for the San Francisco 49ers next season will be former Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh.  From reports, Harbaugh has accepted a 5 year deal for $25 million to take over the team, replacing former Chicago Bears player Mike Singletary.

After a below .500 performance, in a season with high expectations by most experts for the team, the owners of the 49ers fired Singletary after the 16th week of the season.

Harbaugh’s acceptance fills the void for one of several teams in the league which have pulled the plug on their 2010 coaches. Reportedly Harbaugh had also been in discussions with the Dolphins and the Broncos before deciding on the 49ers.

The additional of Jim Harbaugh to the ranks of NFL coaches next year may require analysts to be careful with their words however and Jim’s brother John Harbaugh is the coach for the Baltimore Ravens. It will be brother versus brother when the Ravens host the 49ers at home next season.
