Magnitude 4.4 Earthquake in Los Angeles Shook California Residents Last Night

Many in California were shaken from their beds as a magnitude 4.4 earthquake hit Los Angeles last night. No injuries were reported in the California earthquake which struck at about 11:23PM local time.

The earthquake map from the U.S. Geological Survey shows the location of a total of 31 small earthquakes over the last week in and around California, as well as, the quake from last night.

Reports from the U.S. Geological Survey and other Seismologists indicate that the epicenter of the Los Angeles earthquake was just a couple miles east of Yorba Linda which is in northern Orange County California and only 35 miles from Los Angeles.

While the initial earthquake registered at a magnitude 4.4, it was followed just minutes later by a magnitude 2.7 aftershock. Additional reports indicate that the earthquake was felt over a wide are extending from Santa Monica all the way to Long Beach California.
