Mother’s Day eCards Among Last Minute Gift Ideas

Free Mother’s Day eCards Among Last Minute Gift IdeasFor those who have waited until the last minute still trying to come up with a Mothers Day gift idea, a free Mothers Day eCard provides a way to make up for the card that you forgot to get into the mail in time.

As with many holidays, e-cards are fast becoming a good way to let someone know that you are thinking about them, and for a Mom on Mothers Day, letting her know that she matters is the goal. While it would not substitute for a true Mother’s Day gift, the ecard is a nice free way to send a funny or sentimental message and brighten Mom’s day.

The popularity of Mother’s Day continues to grow and despite the economy, retailers continue to report ever increasing sales during the holiday. According to the National Retail Federation, Mother’s Day gift spending is second only to Christmas with an estimated $18 plus billion that will be spent on gifts for Sunday.

While flowers and cards are still the traditional front runners when it comes to the spending on gifts for Mom, a growing number of husbands and children are making more expensive, elaborate and most recently electronic purchases as Mothers Day gifts.

Recent surveys of Mothers however reveal that what most of them really want for Mother’s Day is time with family, or leisure time for pampering themselves. The two desires appear to vary with age.

New mothers, often with little time for themselves want a break and appreciate spa treatments, massage, or a quiet night out or weekend getaway with her husband. For older mothers with grown children, the best gift is family and time with her children and family. A nice outing to lunch, or perhaps most popular is attending church as a family. Reports indicate that after Christmas and Easter, Mother’s Day results in the fullest church services.
