CNN is among a number of news outlets now confirming that the singer and artist known as Prince has died. According to the report, Prince died today at the age of 57.
Prince’s publicist Yvette Noel-Schure told CNN that, “It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57.”

This confirmation from Noel-Schure came on the heels of reports that earlier today police were investigating a death Paisley Park studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
As one can imagine, Twitter and Facebook are flooding the internet with comments and reaction to the death of Prince.
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution report, earlier this month Prince said he was not feeling well and canceled at least one concert in the Atlanta.
After eventually performing a few days later, Prince’s plane made an emergency landing on the way back from the concert. At that time, Noel-Schure reported that, “He is fine and at home.”
During his life as a performer, Prince won seven Grammy Awards, and earned 30 nominations. Nineteen of Prince’s iconic songs reached the Top 10 and five of those topped the charts. Prince was also honored with an Oscar for the original song score to the movie “Purple Rain,” also the title of one of his best known songs.
