U2 Gives iTunes Customers Free Download of New 'Songs of Innocence' Album at Apple EventAs if the iPhone 6 and the new Apple Watch were not enough at today’s Apple unveiling event today, U2 came on stage to perform live for the crowd – and to give away its new album for free.

In a skit between Bono and Tim Cook, the leader of U2 asked if Cook could help them reach the half a billion iTunes customers with their new album. In response, Cook suggested that they give it away – and they agreed!

Servers were a bit sluggish after the announcement, but we were able to download the entire new U2 Songs of Innocence album for free from the iTunes store just minutes after the announcement.

Tim Cook went on to say that anyone who is not currently signed up with iTunes will still be able to download the new U2 album for free. Cook is giving individuals until mid-October to sign up for a free iTunes account and download the album.

The new U2 ‘Songs of Innocence’ album features 11 new songs from the group.
