Watch Video: Tony Stewart Speaks to the Press “Expressed Sorrow” over AccidentSpeaking to the press for the first time since the accident in which he killed race driver Kevin Ward Jr., a very emotional Tony Stewart expressed sorrow over the event saying that the death of Ward will “affect my life forever.”

In the online video below, Stewart reads from a prepared statement saying, “This has been one of the toughest tragedies I’ve ever had to deal with, both professionally and personally. This is something that will definitely affect my life forever.”

“This is a sadness and a pain that I hope no one has to experience in their life. That being said, I know that the pain and the mourning that Kevin Ward’s family and friends are experiencing is something that I can’t possibly imagine,” Stewart continued.

While Tony Stewart has missed the past three Sprint Cup races following the accident on Aug. 9, he is expected to return to race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Oral-B USA 500 this Sunday at the Atlanta Motor Speedway Sunday night at 7:30pm.

Stewart had kept to himself since the accident, reportedly taking the time off out of respect for Ward’s family and to personally could cope with the tragedy. Stewart did not take any questions during the press conference.
