According to the manufacturer, production of the next-generation Ford Focus will have a positive impact on the global job market. Ford estimates that, among suppliers for the Focus line, 5,500 jobs have been added at the facilities which produce parts for the vehicle across North America, Europe and Asia.

The new 2012 Focus uses about 80% of the same parts as produced in previous versions, and about 75% of supply partners will remain the same. In total, Ford has about 310 suppliers in 22 countries which are producing parts for the Focus. Ford indicates that many of these partners have been able to add jobs and equipment to their production facilities, and many others have been able to maintain staffing levels.

“Suppliers are critical to the success of the new Focus, and they are stepping up to support Ford in this important launch,” said Tony Brown, group vice president, Ford Global Purchasing.

The new Focus will be sold in over 120 markets worldwide. The vehicle was designed and is being produced under the auto giant’s “One Ford plan” which is designed to leverage the company’s global assets.
