Some of the non-contagious causes of pink eye are, allergens (like pet dander or dust mites), and other irritants (like smog or swimming pool chlorine). These things can lead to an infection or irritation of the eye or the eyelid.
It is also possible to have a non-contagious pink eye infection, which then develops a secondary infection by viruses or bacteria. Once this happens, it becomes very possible to spread the infection to other.
