Jerry Sandusky Verdict – Guilty on 45 of 48 Counts of Sexual Abuse

Jerry Sandusky Verdict - Guilty on 45 of 48 Counts of Sexual Abuse - led to jail in handcuffsOn Friday, the jury in the Jerry Sandusky trial related to the sexual abuse allegations returned a Guilty verdict on 45 of the 48 counts against him. Sentencing for Sandusky will come next and will very likely carry a life sentence for the former Penn State Football coach.

Sandusky’s wife and other family members were present in the courtroom as the jury foreman read the Guilty verdicts. Seven women and five men made up the jury and which acquitted Sandusky on only 3 of the counts – one of which was the highly publicized rape charge related to Victim 2, which was the account from former Penn State assistant football coach Mike McQueary who testified that he saw Sandusky with the victim in a shower in the locker room.

According to reports, Sandusky had planned to take the stand in his own defense. However all of that changed after attorneys for Sandusky’s 33-year-old adopted son Matthew said that he would be taking the stand to testify against Jerry Sandusky. Matthew had recently revealed that Jerry Sandusky had abused him as well.

After the guilty verdict, the prosecution successfully appealed to Judge John M. Cleland to revoke Sandusky’s bail. When the court session ended, Sandusky was led away in handcuffs and taken to the Centre County jail to await sentencing.

“Sandusky said nothing after the verdict was delivered,” said defense attorney Joe Amendola. “I think Jerry was prepared for this.”
