Season 5 Premier episode of 'Breaking Bad' Gets Record Number of Viewers on AMCOne of the biggest hits for AMC has been its success with the show “Breaking Bad.” The show has been drawing in audiences for the network for four seasons now, and this week, the premier episode for Breaking Bad season 5 has drawn record viewers.

According to reports, the season 5 premier saw a 14% increase over the season 4 premier. Reportedly, 2.9 million viewers tuned in to watch the Breaking Bad Season 5 premier, and another 1.6 million tuned in to watch the encore presentation later that evening.

AMC has reported that the 5th season will be the last season for the hit show. However, Breaking Bad fans will not lose their favorite show too quickly. To keep the show on longer, the network has announced that this final season will actually be split to air eight episodes this year, and then air the final eight next summer.

The number of viewers for Breaking Bad season 5 could had been higher is not for a contract dispute between AMC and Dish network. The satellite providers 14 million customers were not able to watch the program as it is currently blacked-out pending negotiations. To help however, AMC streamed the season premiere to allow viewers to watch the season 5 premier of Breaking Bad online.
