Delta Air Lines Releases “Glass Bottom” iPad app – Passengers See View Below the Airplane in FlightLooking for a new iPad or iPhone app to keep you entertained on your next airline flight? Delta Airlines now has the answer with its new “glass bottom” app for the iPad. The app is the new Fly Delta app for iPad.

The innovative and exciting feature of the Fly Delta iPad app is what the company calls a ‘glass bottom’ feature which allows passengers to see what is below them and around them on the ground as they fly overhead.

The app does not use live video, but instead an animation of the aircraft relative to its position over the ground. However, much more than just a better looking moving map, the new “glass bottom jet” section of the Fly Delta iPad app incorporates additional information such as satellite imagery, photos, interesting landmarks, and social media feeds which can, among other things, show you where you are relative to online friends on the ground below.

According to Delta Airlines, the app is available to passengers on its 800 Wi-Fi enabled aircraft. Among the other features of the new Fly Delta iPad app are all the typical airline app items including destination guides, check-in, flight status, itinerary planners, seat plans, etc.
