In the latest report from Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2), the national group of business leaders who advocate for sound economic and environmental policies, Florida was among the top ten states in the U.S. when it comes to jobs for clean “green” energy and transportation. According to the group, “clean energy and clean transportation projects announced in 2012 are poised to create more than 110,000 jobs across the country.”
The announcement of the states in the top 10 for the green jobs were unveiled via a live conference call, open to the press, at 11 a.m. EST on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Among those on the call will be Judith Albert, executive director of E2, Cai Steger, associate director, energy and transportation program, Natural Resources Defense Council, and John Robbins, president of Greathorn Development Corp. in Concord, N.C.
Among the topics of discussion during the press conference were concerns and risks of attempts by anti-clean energy jobs groups to derail clean energy policies in states within the U.S. The group indicated that although 2012 saw growth for the clean energy and transportation job sector, with 110,000 jobs announced, the efforts of the groups in opposition could threaten the continued growth for the coming years.
The top 10 states for clean energy and clean transportation jobs, in alphabetical order from the report are Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Oregon and Texas.
