Difficulty: Easy | Total Time: 45 mins | Active Time: 10 mins | Makes:1 dozen dyed eggs
INGREDIENTS
• 12 white eggs
• 2 teaspoons distilled white vinegar
• About 40 drops (1/2 teaspoon) food coloring
• Crayons (preferably clear or white ones) or stickers, for decorating (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Place a rack over a paper-towel-lined baking sheet; set aside.
2. Place eggs in a single layer in a large saucepan with a tightfitting lid. Add enough water to cover the eggs by 1 to 2 inches. Bring to a boil over high heat. Remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 10 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, carefully remove eggs to the rack and let sit until cool enough to handle.
3. Pour 1 cup water into a small, nonreactive bowl or mug. Add vinegar and food coloring and stir to combine. For a darker color, add a few more drops of food coloring. Repeat for additional colors.
4. Using a spoon, dip each egg into the dye, turning to coat evenly. Remove to the rack to dry.
