YouTube Video Captures 2013 Dayton Airshow Crash – Wing-walker Jane Wicker and pilot Charlie Schwenker killedThe aviation world was saddened today as a plane crash at the 2013 Dayton Airshow was captured on video posted to YouTube. The video shows today’s crash of a Stearman Bi-plane which killed the wing-walker airshow performer Jane Wicker as well as the pilot of the aircraft Charlie Schwenker.

On the company’s official Facebook web site, Jane Wicker Air Shows posted wrote, “It is with sad hearts that we announce that Jane Wicker and Charlie Schwenker were tragically killed while performing at the Vectren Dayton Airshow. We ask for your prayers for the families and privacy of all involved and allow them time to grieve and work through these events.”

The exact cause of the plane crash, which occurred at 12:46 p.m. during the third act of the show today in Dayton, is unclear. The airshow itself was cancelled shortly after the crash at 1:30PM. The Dayton airshow is an annual event, and one of the largest airshows in the country.

In the video, posted on YouTube, the crash can be seen as the airplane was making a low pass in front of the spectators, and as Wicker was sitting atop the wing of the Stearman. The plane banked suddenly and dropped to the ground just a few feet below and burst into flames upon impact. No one in the crowed was reported injured.
