When the news broke that Hostess was going under and Twinkies would no longer be made, internet searches for “homemade Twinkie recipes” soared.
In an earlier article, we even posted some of the best homemade Twinkie recipes found online. But now it appears that hostess Twinkies are back on store shelves.
According to reports, the return of Twinkies to a store near you has been made possible through a $410 million deal.
It should really come as little surprise that someone was willing to strike a deal to resurrect the Twinkie given the popularity and public attention given when it appeared that the Twinkies would soon be gone for good.
It appears that private equity firms Apollo Global Management and Metropoulous & Co., bartered a deal with Hostess Brands when the original Twinkie maker filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last November.
In addition to Twinkies, the deal will also bring other Hostess favorites to store shelves including CupCakes, Donettes, Zingers, HoHos and Ding Dongs.
The Twinkies and other Hostess favorites should be on store shelves starting this week. But the Twinkies may be a little different from the original.
With an updated recipe, it has been reported that the new Twinkies will have a longer shelf-life, now lasting about 3 weeks longer than before – a total of 45 days.
What are your thoughts on the return of the Twinkie and other Hostess favorites?
