According to a report from the news station that she works for, KUSA-9NEWS traffic reporter Amelia Earhart has announced that she will retrace the flight of her famous namesake and fulfill a lifelong dream.
The official announcement from Earhart came yesterday at one of the largest airshows in the world, which take place annually in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
According to KUSA, Earhart wears a lot of hats at the station. “Over the years Earhart has become a familiar face and part of the fabric of our culture here at 9NEWS. Just like the original flying female ace she is happiest when she is in the sky.”
KUSA went on to say of Earhart, “She is a talented reporter with a solid working knowledge of Colorado’s intricate weather, a skilled journalist a talented pilot.”
“I absolutely love flying,” Earhart said. “One year from now I will be completing, symbolically completing, and recreating Amelia Earhart’s historic flight around the world. It’s a dream that I’ve had since I was about 18-years-old.”
To make the trip, along the route originally attempted by the woman for whom she is named, Earhart will use an aircraft known as a Pilatus PC-12 NG. Though single engine, the aircraft is powered by a turbo-prop and is highly capable of the trip.
