After the shooting earlier today, in which a student and a police officer for the school were killed, the Virginia Tech campus was placed on lockdown with officials ordering students and staff members to stay indoors until the gunman is found.
“We are looking absolutely everywhere,” university spokesman Mark Owczarski said Thursday afternoon.
According to reports in the media, law enforcement including state and local police, the FBI and agents with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are searching the campus and the area
Reportedly, the shootings occurred when a VA Tech campus police officer was performing a traffic stop on campus. The officer was shot and killed by the gunman who then fled through a nearby parking lot where the other shooting victim was found.
The shooter has been described as a white male wearing gray sweat pants, a gray hat with a neon green brim, a maroon hoodie and backpack, according to school officials.
