Just as the dust had begun to settle on the recall issues related to un-commanded acceleration in their vehicles last year, auto maker Toyota has announced another world-wide recall on about a million and a half cars.
According to the announcement today, the recall centers on about 245,000 Lexus vehicles in the United States and another 1.3 million abroad. The issue at hand is related to several problems with the fuel systems in many models.
For U.S. owners of Lexus vehicles including the 2006-2007 Lexus GS300/350, the 2006-2009 Lexus IS250, and the 2006-2008 Lexus IS350, Toyota wants to inspect a suspect fuel pressure sensor which could become loose and lead to a fuel leak. The recall in other parts of the globe is on other lines of vehicles and is for different fuel system issues.
Officials from Toyota will be notifying owners by mail, but anyone concerned is invited to contact the company at 800-255-3987 or via the internet at http://www.lexus.com/recall.
