In what appears to be an endless barrage of online holiday deals and promotions, today has been designated as Green Monday. Retailers are jumping in and offering Green Monday deals and discounts in much the same way they did for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
To compete with Amazon and the Kindle e-reader tablet, the Barnes & Noble Green Monday deal offers customers a free $25 gift card when they purchase a NOOK™ ereader tablet online at barnesand noble.com. The promotion is only for the one day and is good through the end of the day on Monday 12/12/11.
According to the ad from Barnes & Noble, the only remaining online and brick & mortar mega bokseller, customers can buy any NOOK reader and get a $25 BN Gift Card. In addition to the one day special offer, orders of the NOOK reader receive free shipping as part of the promotion.
The Green Monday deals are the latest attempt by retailers to cash in on what has been, and continues to be a record year in terms of retail sales. According to reports from research firm Comscore, online holiday sales are up by a reported 15% to $24.6 billion for the season.
Spearheaded by the online shopping deals from Cyber Monday, the firm said that there have been six days since the online shopping season began which have seen sales over $1 billion each.
Friday, at the end of this week is known as Free Shipping Day, and will undoubtedly lead to additional growth to the already record sales numbers.
