For the four counts of lying to police investigators, for which Casey Anthony was found guilty, the judge handed down sentencing today. Judge Belvin Perry sentenced Casey Anthony to the maximum time allowed by law which was 1 year and $1,000 for each of the four counts. The judge ruled that the sentences would be served consecutively.
As she has already served over three years in jail awaiting trial, Ms. Anthony may be out within the next few weeks. The court is currently calculating the amount of time served as well as time reduced for good behavior. The judge estimated that she should be releases by late July to early August.
In addition to the sentencing, Anthony may also have to pay for much of the costs incurred by the state for the prosecution of the case. Also, while in jail yesterday, Anthony was served with a law suit for a woman named Zanida Gonzalez. This is the same name as the fictitious nanny made up by Casey. Gonzales is suing Anthony for defamation of character.
