As we begin the 21st day of testimony in the trial of Casey Anthony, the defense moves into its second day of presenting its case. Yesterday was undoubtedly a lone one for the jury as Casey’s attorney grilled his first expert witness about DNA for just under 4 hours.
In an effort to cloud the mind of the jury, the defense had their expert acknowledge the fact that neither Casey’s father George, nor her brother Lee were the biological father of little Caylee Anthony. The prosecution voiced its outrage that the defense was implying that Casey had been sexually assaulted by her brother or Father without coming out and saying it. After a heated back-and-forth, the judge dismissed the jury for lunch while he settle the matter between the attorneys.
Broadcast of the trial proceedings take place Monday-Saturday from about 9AM to 5PM Eastern Time, with a break for lunch from 12-1:30. Video Coverage Continues Today – Watch Casey Anthony Trial Live Here:
One of the hot topics for the defense yesterday centered around the duct tape and the heart sticker. While the defense had made it sound like the duct tape found on Caylee’s skull, was also the duct tape which had a heart sticker on it, the defense got the state CSI experts to explain that the piece of tape with the heart on it was a fragment found about 30 feet away from the skull.
The defense is hoping to make the jury believe that the fragment is just a coincidence, and is a piece of duct tape which someone else had thrown out in the woods and just happened to be near the body. It is just a bit of a leap to accept their claim since the type of duct tape is rare and is the same type as that found on the skull.
The trial will pick up again today at 9AM eastern. If yesterday’s disposition of a witnesss by the defense team is any indication, the defense make take a number of days to get through its case.
