Clean Energy Jobs Trends in Florida Growing but Need Political Boost

Clean Energy Jobs Trends in Florida Growing but Need Political Boost In a report released yesterday, the numbers indicate that clean energy jobs in the state of Florida a continuing to grow. This despite concerns that “a lack of policies to help attract more clean energy-minded businesses to the state pose a major obstacle for expanded clean energy job growth in the Sunshine State.”

This concern and information was expressed by Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2), in partnership with Florida Alliance for Renewable Energy and the Florida Chapter of Energy Services Coalition.

On Wednesday the group hosted a live phone-based news conference in conjunction with the release of its “Clean Jobs Florida: Sizing Up Florida’s Clean Energy Jobs Base and its Potential.”

In the report was provided an exhaustive overview of the clean jobs economy in Florida, based on information collected from hundreds of businesses in the state engaged in renewable energy, energy efficiency, alternative transportation, and greenhouse gas management and accounting.

Specific metrics included in the report were the current size, composition and demographics of Florida’s clean energy workforce. The research was a joint collaboration between BW Research Partnership and the Economic Advancement Research Institute (EARI).
