On November 9th of this year, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft undergoing flight tests was forced to make an emergency landing at an airport in Laredo, Texas when a fire was detected onboard the aircraft. The fire, which appears to have been caused by a failed power panel, broke out in the electronics bay of the 787.
Since that time Boeing as been working to resolve the issues which led to the in flight emergency in an effort to get its next generation state-of-the-art aircraft back in the air, and back on schedule with testing. Boeing is currently over three years behind in delivery of the much anticipated, technologically advanced, aircraft.
Boeing is currently performing ground based testing of some of the modifications intended to prevent another incident. Once these tests are complete the flight tests can continue.
