While numbers are still coming in, so far 9 people have been reported dead with about another 100 injured as a result of an EF-4 tornado which ripped through the town of Harrisburg Illinois.
The destruction in Harrisburg, which devastated an estimated 250-300 homes, is part of a large system of severe weather moving through the Midwest and now making its way toward the northeast in the United States.
Currently, ahead of the destruction, the storm system has brought rain to the areas of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. Further to the northeast snowfall continues.
The winds in the EF-4 tornado which hit the town of Harrisburg were estimated at about 170 miles per hour. With the fast moving storm front continuing on its path to the ease-northeast, individuals in western Pennsylvania and other parts of the northeast are warned to monitor weather broadcasts and remain alert for hazardous weather in there are over the next several hours.
Additional tornados are expected in several states from as far south as the Carolinas and north up the east coast of the U.S.
