As the air begins to cool with the approach of Fall, the first holiday of the new season approaches. For Halloween, costume ideas are often the first item on the list, but many now are also beginning the search for good pumpkin carving patterns and pumpkin carving tips.
As with virtually everything these days, the internet is an excellent resource for both Halloween costume ideas and shopping as well as a resource for tips on carving you pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern. The internet is also a great resource for finding and downloading free pumpkin carving patterns.
Using a pattern is one of the easiest and fastest ways to carve your pumpkin into a professionally done jack-o-lantern. Free carving patterns can be downloaded and printed. You can then scale the pattern to size is you have a very large or very small pumpkin. The next step it to attach the template to your pumpkin with some tape.
Rather than try to carve the pumpkin with the template attached, the experts say to use a very small knife to make some small incisions creating a dotted-line of the template through the paper. Next remove the paper template to reveal the outline on your pumpkin. Now with a larger knife you can begin to make the deep cuts through the pumpkin.
Remember to clean the inside of the pumpkin out removing all of the pulp and pumpkin seeds first. You can read some of our related articles for some pumpkin seed recipes as they are a delicious and very nutritious snack.
