In a public statement, General Dynamics announced that its Ordinance and Tactical Systems division has signed a 10-year cooperative agreement with Thales Australia. Working under the agreement, the two companies will provide the Australian Department of Defense with munitions and ordinance.
Thales Australia has existing contracts with the Australian government and will continue to execute those contracts under this new partnership. While the formal agreement has just been signed, the two companies have been working together on joint projects for years.
According to the statement from General Dynamics, the company will perform a significant amount of technology transfer to Thales as part of the partnership to support them with the current Australian Defense contracts.
Thales has about 68,000 employees worldwide and about 3,500 in Australia, and is well known as a global leader in the markets for defense, security, aerospace and transportation.
“Thales and General Dynamics already have a strong working history,” said Michael Wilson, President of General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems. “This agreement will see increasingly close cooperation between the companies, and is a significant extension to our current arrangements for the Australian, European and U.S. markets.”
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is a business unit of General Dynamics. It is a world leader in the manufacture of munitions, shaped charge warheads and propellants.
