While the judge had estimated that the trial will only take 4-6 weeks, we are currently nearing the end of the first 2 weeks in the George Zimmerman trial, and still have not completed jury selection. Could this be a sign of what’s to come, or just a very careful strategy by lawyers for both sides?
Certainly, finding people who have not already formed an opinion in such a high profile murder case cannot be easy. In total 6 jurors and 4 alternates will be selected, and will ultimately determine the guilt or innocence of George Zimmerman.
Zimmerman is standing trial in a Sanford, FL courtroom for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman is claiming self-defense in the shooting which took place in the same town last year.
