If you are having hard time finding the right Christmas or other Holiday gift for the football fan on you list, owning part of an NFL team may be a great option. This week the Green Pay Packers, the only publicly owned NFL team, began selling a block of shares in the team.
One share of stock in the Packers is selling for $250, and while it may not be something the average person would buy several shares of as an investment, it appears to be a great gift idea if you know a Green Bay Packer fan, also known as a “Packer Backer.”
The timing couldn’t be better for the franchise which is hoping to raise part of the $143 million it needs for an expansion to the stadium at Lambeau Field. With the team in the spotlight with a record now at 12-0, and Christmas and other holiday shopping on the minds of consumers, sales of the Packer’s stock hit $400,000 within the first 11 minutes according to reports.
But with the Packers hoping to sell 250,000 shares at a value of $62.5 million, there is still plenty of time to make a purchase and give the gift of owning part of the Green Bay Packers to someone on your list this year.
If football or the Packers are not ideal for that special someone, a similar gift idea is a share or two in another iconic company. Some popular ones are companies like Disney, Harley Davidson, NASCAR teams and other sports teams.
