As Halloween nears and the trick-or-treaters prepare to done their costumes, the workplace and social media are becoming flooded with funny, spooky, and generally free Halloween eCards.
Each year it seems the number of online searches for term related to “free Halloween ecards” and the like, continue to grow. The increasing proliferation of social media and the commonality of email has likely been a driving factor behind the growth.
Sending the free online ecards, in fact, are an increasingly popular ritual for any number of holiday including Halloween. As a result there is no shortage of sources to supply the online demand.
A Google search for the term “free Halloween ecards” currently yields 819,000 results. Among these are web sites familiar to many including Hallmark, JibJab, and American Greetings.
While some of these companies are well known for their traditional greeting card and brick-and-mortar presence, there are an even larger number of online only companies that specialize in electronic greeting only, a.k.a. ecards.
Many of these companies offer the Halloween ecards for free in exchange for the customer’s email address, and that of the person receiving the ecard. In this way the companies are free to market some of their paid services at a future date.
