Earlier this week, computer manufacturer HP announced that it will be selling off its personal computer division. As part of that move the company also announced that it will discontinue the manufacture of its Touchpad / Tablet PC which was designed to compete with the Apple iPad.
The announcement comes not very long after the company started to advertise its entry into the tablet PC environment. Sales of the Touchpad had been lower than expected and reviews were not perfect.
For consumers who have already purchased the HP Touchpad tablet pc at full price, some good news from retailer Best Buy. The company has announced that it will extend the return policy on the Touchpad to 60 days. The store will offer to refund or trade customers to a different manufacturer product.
For consumers looking for a bargain, there is also good news. Since the announcement that the product is being discontinued, the HP Touchpad tablet PCs have been selling at incredibly low prices, in most cases for less than $100.
