Yesterday, 81 year-old actress/comedian Joan Rivers was hospitalized and eventually placed into a medically induced coma Thursday after going into cardiac and respiratory arrest during a routine doctor’s visit.
According to reports, EMTs rushed Rivers to the hospital after a 911 call at 9:40 a.m. Rivers was unresponsive when the EMTs arrives and it is uncertain how long Rivers went without breathing before help arrived.
The night before the incident, Rivers had performed an hour of stand-up before a sold-out Manhattan crowd.
Rivers’ only daughter, and reality TV co-star, Melissa Rivers reportedly flew in from California Thursday night to be by her mother’s side at The Mount Sinai Hospital.
The Daily News reported that Melissa was “an emotional wreck” today as she waited for a medical update on her mother’s condition.
Last night Melissa issued a statement thanking “everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother.”
