While James is a dynamic threat with his shot-making ability he is just as big of a weapon with his passing. It was this double threat which ultimately led to the blow-out victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA finals.
Forced to double-team LeBron, the Thunder left a number of openings for James to pass to a player uncontested for 2 and 3 point shots all night. While the Thunder came within 5 points of the lead at one time, by the middle of the third period, the Heat led by 20 or more points for the rest of the game.
Despite the overwhelming lead, James and the other Heat players maintained their focus on solid play until late in the 4th. With minutes to go, James and other starters were pulled from the floor, and began some early, somewhat restrained celebrations on the sidelines.
With the final score 121-106, James himself finished with 26 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists. When asked about the win LeBron responded that it was the ”Happiest day of my life,” James said, “It means everything.”
When asked about his path from Cleveland to Miami and his decisions along the way, James responded, “I made a difficult decision to leave Cleveland but I understood what my future was about … I knew we had a bright future (in Miami). This is a dream come true for me. This is definitely when it pays off.”
