The three winning lottery tickets sold in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland will split the largest lottery jackpot prize in history. The split lottery jackpot will give each winner about $213.3 million before taxes.
To get the full payout, the MegaMillions Lottery winners will be paid in installments over a 26 year period. To get a single lump sum, the amount would drop to about $154 million each. After taxes, this would be about $108 million to take home for each winner.
According to officials, the Mega Millions winning ticket sold in Illinois was purchased from a Motomart convenience store in the town of Red Bud not far from St. Louis. The store will receive a $500,000 bonus for selling the winning lottery ticket, which was a quick pick according to Illinois Lottery Official Michael Jones.
Reports indicated that the Maryland winning lottery ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven in Baltimore County. Kansas Lottery officials did not release much information about the winning mega millions lottery ticket sold in their state other than the ticket was sold in the northeast part of the state.
There were a total of 12 other winners in the Mega Millions lottery, each of who will get an estimated $250,000. These are individuals who matched all five of the winning numbers but not the Mega number on their lottery ticket.
The next Mega Millions lottery drawing is scheduled for this Tuesday with an estimated $12 million jackpot.
