Last year Urban Meyer dropped a bobmshell on the Gator Nation when he announced that he would be resigning as the head coach for the Florida Gators, citing health reasons. Shortly therafter, Meyer reversed his decision and returned to work. But yesterday, Meyer again shock many of the fans with another resignation announcement.
After winning 2 BCS national championships and 3 SEC titles for the University of Florida, Meyer has indeed had a great impact on the Gator football program. This years record has been a little off the pace for Florida and Meyer admits that he may not have given it is all. Citing family as his driving reason for stepping down this time. According to Meyer in a press conference last evening, he wants to spend more time watching his 2 daughters play sports and grow up. One daughter is in high school and the other in college. Meyer admits that his job has caused him to miss virtually all other his girl’s games and he just doesn’t want to miss any more. Said Meyer, “In the end I will be judged more on how I was as a Father and a Husband, not on how many bowl games I have won.”
It is clear thay Urban Meyer has had a change in priorities for his life and has cretainly left a stron legacy behind at the university.
