It’s official. After a three year courtship, pop singer Miley Cyrus has announced her engagement to boyfriend and “The Hunger Games” actor Liam Hemsworth. According to People magazine, the 22 year-old Hemsworth proposed to Miley Cyrus at the end of May, presenting her with a 3.5 carat diamond ring.
In the People article, Cyrus told the magazine, “I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam.” Cyrus, daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, who got her start as “Hannah Montana” before moving on to a successful recording artist and acting career is reportedly at work on a new album.
The relationship reportedly has already had some ups and downs when the couple broke up for several months, before getting back together, after their first year of dating. The romance began during their work together in 2009 on “The Last Song”.
As for Hemsworth, production of the next installment of the Hunger Games series titled “Catching Fire” is scheduled to begin this fall. In the meantime, he has been at work filming “Empire State” and is scheduled to work with Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman, in a film called “Paranoia.”
