The launch is scheduled for 11:34 a.m. EDT on Friday, Aug. 5th with the Juno spacecraft expected to arrive at Jupiter in 2016. Juno will investigate the Jupiter’s interior, atmosphere and aurora and will utilize a color camera to provide high quality close-up images of the largest planet in the solar system. Images will include the first detailed glimpse of the polar regions of the enormous gas giant.
Attendees represent 28 states, the District of Columbia and five other countries: Canada, Finland, Norway, Spain and the United Kingdom. NASA randomly selected the participants from more than 1,200 online applicants.
