In the wake of charges for a DUI on the 6th of February, NASCAR driver Michael Annett has been placed on probation for one year. At the end of the probation, Annett will be evaluated by a counselor and be subject to random alcohol and drug testing.
At the time of his arrest, Annett’s blood alcohol content was .32 percent, about four times above the legal limit. During race week, leading up to today’s Daytona 500, Annett met with reporters at the Daytona International Speedway and apologized to his family, his fans and his racing team. Annett will be driving the number 62 Toyota for the Rusty Wallace racing team.
During the conference, Annett owned up to his mistake and admitted his guilt. “It scared me that I could have killed somebody,” said Annett, who went on to say the incident was, “a horrible judgment call on my part and it’s something that is never going to happen again.”
