For fans of the NBA Orlando Magic team, the season has been one of turmoil for far as overshadowing everything on the court this season has been the trade rumors surrounding Dwight Howard and his future with the Orlando Magic.
Lending to the questions and uncertainty about a Dwight Howard trade has been the mixed signals and reports leaked from the team and others close to the situation. The most recent rumors make it appear that Dwight Howard may not be leaving the Magic and may indeed still play in Orlando in the 2012-2013 NBA season.
With the trade deadline of 3PM Eastern time this afternoon fast approaching the final decision on Dwight Howard’s future in the NBA and with or without the Orlando Magic should be announced shortly.
Most recent were trade rumors that Howard would go to the Houston Rockets, but it now appears that the Orlando Magic may not want to trade Howard after all. Much of the issue stems from an opt-out clause in Dwight Howard’s contract with the Magic.
If Howard chooses to exercise the opt-out, the Magic may be compelled to move forward with a trade, but if he decides not to, based on the fan feedback, the team would almost certainly keep Howard in Orlando. We’ll all know the answers soon.
