In preparation for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, we did some digging for our readers in anticipation of the question. In earlier articles we have reported that NBCUniversal, the parent of NBC which this year owns the broadcast rights for Olympics, is providing free and unprecedented online video access to all 32 Summer Olympic events. In total, the network expects to broadcast some 3500 hours of coverage.
In addition to watching the Olympics online for free on your computer, NBC also has free access via mobile devices like smart phones and tablets. The network reportedly partnered with YouTube to help bring the London Olympics to the internet for millions to enjoy from virtually everywhere.
Is the online access to watch the 2012 Olympics free for everyone?
According to the special website dedicated to watching the Olympics online by NBC, NBCOlympics.com, the access is free for just about everyone in the U.S. The free online access to the Olympic coverage is available to all viewers whose cable or satellite provider currently includes CNBC and MSNBC. Viewers can watch the Olympic coverage online via a computer, or by downloading a mobile app or an app for their tablet.
