The jury was dismissed for the day and the judge deliberated over the decision during a break around 10 AM. When he returned, the judged cited several supreme court decisions which he used as a test for the prosecution’s case and evidence. After citing all of the precedence, the judge ruled that the request for acquittal was denied and that the trial would continue.
Broadcast of the trial proceedings take place Monday-Saturday from about 9AM to 5PM Eastern Time, with a break for lunch from 12-1:30. Video Coverage Continues Today – Watch Casey Anthony Trial Live Here:
As the trial begins today at 9AM, the defense team will begin to make their case and will continue to create an atmosphere of reasonable doubt for the jury. With the prosecution resting its case, and the move for acquittal denied, it is uncertain how long the defense will need to make their case.
What is also uncertain is whether Casey Anthony will take the stand in her own defense. Many experts argue that she would not do well on the stand and should avoid testifying if at all possible. Many of the witnesses including Casey’s parents, Cindy and George Anthony will likely be in the witness stand during the defense’s presentation. In light of the allegations by the defense of sexual abuse, by George to Casey, this is almost a certainty.
Juror’s got a break yesterday. After the judge ruled against the acquittal, having dismissed the jury earlier in the day, the court was in recess for the rest of the day. The trial is set to begin again today at 9AM eastern, and is expected to run for a full day today.
