In cooperation with her sponsor, Oakley, as she prepares to head to the 2012 London Olympic Games, Olympic Gold Medal Champion Kerri Walsh unveiled a unique piece of art this week. With Walsh on Tuesday, New York area artist Les Rogers made public an artistic expression of the athlete’s distinct approach to training and competition entitled “BEYOND REASON.”
According to a statement from the company, this unveiling was part of an ongoing rollout of Oakley’s BEYOND REASON campaign which features artwork depicting the, “driving attitude that Oakley athletes use to exceed the limits of possibility.”
Walsh is joined by several other Olympic athletes who are also part of the Oakley BEYOND REASON campaign. Among those taking part are: U.S. decathlete Brian Clay, U.S. sprinter Lolo Jones, British cyclist Mark Cavendish, South African sprinter Oscar Pistorius, Australian cyclist Cadel Evans and Spanish triathlete Javier Gomez.
“I am often asked to describe what it takes to compete with the world’s best and where I get my motivation to continue pushing the limits,” said Oakley icon and U.S. volleyball star Kerri Walsh. “Working with Les on this project was an amazing experience – he truly captured my essence and everything I do as a highly competitive athlete and teammate.”
The campaign will use the next 100 days leading up to the 2012 Olympic Games in London, to unveil art pieces which are inspired by each athlete’s BEYOND REASON vision. All of the art work will come together at the London design museum on July 26, 2012, the night before the 2012 Olympic opening ceremonies, during a gala event to celebrate BEYOND REASON and the Oakley athletes competing in the 2012 Olympic Games.
