Oregon Clean Energy Works Program Launches Statewide

bulbAfter the conclusion of a pilot program, the state of Oregon has launched a statewide program referred to as their “Clean Energy Works” program. The program was applauded by the U.S. Department of Energy Acting Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Henry Kelly this week in a statement.

“Through the statewide launch of the Clean Energy Works program, the Recovery Act is helping thousands of families in Oregon save money by saving energy. The Portland pilot program has been successful in supporting new jobs in the community, expanding the market for energy efficiency products and services, and is serving as a model for other communities looking to adopt home energy efficiency programs,” said Dr. Kelly.

During the pilot project for the program a goal of 500 energy efficiency home upgrades and 350 jobs was set and reached. Now the program is being expanded to 17 communities throughout the state. The plane over the coming three years is to get another 6,000 homes in the program. If successful, the program should support the creation of about 1300 jobs and result in substantial energy savings.
