In celebration of their first Super Bowl win in fourteen years, the Green Bay Packers held a championship celebration with their home town fans at Lambeau Field Tuesday evening. The event was a sell out of all 56,000 tickets which went on sale Monday and were gone within a few hours.
The fans celebrated the team’s fourth win at the big game as the president and CEO of the Packers, Mark Murphy, gave the opening speech. During the speech, Murphy thanked the fans, the players, and the coaching staff along with praise for the leadership of GM Ted Thompson.
As expected, perhaps the biggest fan reaction was to quarterback Aaron Rogers. This win came in the sixth year with the Packers for Rogers who was drafted by the team in April 2005. After studying under quarterback legend Brett Favre, Rogers took the helm in 2008. After his second year leading the team, Rogers now has a Super Bowl Ring.
As for what the team expects for the 2011 season, Rogers told the fans, “We’ve got an incredible group of guys. The core is coming back… I’ll tell you what Green Bay, we’re going to be right here next year doing this exact same thing!”
