A new and groundbreaking science-educational book series now brings science to life by engaging readers with the centuries of history behind the various branches of modern day science. The Ponderables™ series, from respected science author Tom Jackson, takes readers on a journey through time explaining the discoveries which led to the evolution of the sciences as we know them.
The first three books in the Ponderables™ series cover science and its history related to Mathematics, Chemistry (specifically the periodic table of the Elements) and Astronomy. To engage and educate the reader, Jackson, in cooperation with his publisher Shelter Harbor Press, have filled the book series with lavish illustrations to help foster a more complete understanding of the stories behind some of the greatest discoveries in human history.

The books are published in hard cover format. In addition to the hundreds of outstanding illustrations throughout, each book in the Ponderables™ series also contains a 24 page fold-out concertina neatly folded in its back which includes, among other things, a 12-page timeline illustrating the milestones in its respective science discipline.
The first three books in the series are: The Elements: An Illustrated History of the Periodic Table, Mathematics: An Illustrated History of Numbers, and The Universe: An Illustrated History of Astronomy.
