This will make tonight’s Powerball Jackpot the sixth-largest jackpot in the Powerball lottery’s history. While that number could surge higher before the drawing, lottery officials aren’t expecting it to change much.

If no one matched all of the winning numbers, including the powerball, in Wednesday’s drawing, officials estimate that the jackpot for the next Powerball drawing could reach $500 million – or half a Billion dollars.
This would come close to, and could potentially surpass the highest payout in Powerball history. This happened less than a year ago in May when a Powerball jackpot of $590.5 million was won by an 84-year-old woman who purchased the winning ticket.
For a single winner, opting to take a single lump sum payment for a Powerball, the take home pay for tonight’s lottery drawing would be about $228 million before Uncle Sam takes his cut.
No one matched all of the winning numbers plus the powerball in the drawing on Saturday, leading to the current jackpot amount.
According to officials, you have about a 1 in175 million chance of picking the winning numbers in the Powerball.
