Analysts see the Charlotte 600 at the Charlotte National Speedway as potentially anyone’s race to win. The extra 100 miles over most races in the NASCAR circuit really opens up the field in the minds of many. The race will be aired on television as well as broadcast on satellite radio and internet live feeds. But before viewers will tune in to watch or listen to the NASCAR race today, there will be plenty of time to watch the legendary Indy 500.
The 100th Indy 500 race is scheduled to start a noon today. For television viewers, the pre-race coverage will begin on ABC at 11AM eastern today. To listen to the race on the radio, coverage will be broadcast on Sirus 211 and XM radio channel 145.
Dario Franchetti will take the field at the brickyard this afternoon as the defending Indy 500 Champion. If he can win today, it will be his third win at Indy. Danica Patrick will be among the 33 cars racing at Indianapolis today. According to many this may, however, be her last race at Indy as Patrick has indicated a desire to focus more on NASCAR.
