In a statement this week the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced MacLean Engineering & Applied Technologies of Houston has been awarded a nearly $50 million contract.
Under the terms of the contract, which begins this July, the company will provide simulation model development for organizations at NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
“Work under the agreement will include model development, integration, verification, problem support and other activities on numerous robotics platforms. Platforms include in-orbit robotic manipulator systems; advanced future robotic systems; and guidance, navigation and control of space-based vehicles for all flight phases, including rendezvous operations.”
The computer simulations from MacLean are invaluable to NASA as they allow the agency and its engineers as way to address engineering analysis, operations and training requirements.
Additionally, the contract provides development and support services for avionics and embedded flight software systems.
As awarded, the contract has firm-fixed price and cost-plus fixed-fee task orders. There is a three-year base period in the contract term, followed by two one-year options.
