Ron Paul Considers Running for President in 2012

Ron Paul announced today that he is looking into making another run for the Presidency in 2012. The first step is underway in the form of an exploratory committee to analyze the potential for support.

In 2008, Paul was able to raise over $35 million to help his campaign and developed a very loyal base. Unfortunate the base was not large enough to win any of the primaries.
The congressman from Texas is optimistic that after the last four years more people are concerned about issues in the country which could lead to a larger base of support this time around.

Paul, 75, was the Libertarian Party nominee for president in 1988. He faces competition for votes from Gary Johnson, a former two-term New Mexico governor who recently entered the Republican contest on a libertarian platform. He’ll also be competing with other conservative candidates for tea party support.

As the father of tea party favorite and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, Ron Paul may be able to get some additional support from that very active political support base and the Republican party.

Paul is expected to give his final decision to run by June, but with the first debate of the 2012 elections scheduled to the 5th of May, he may need to make an announcement sooner than that.
