Sunday night the Screen Actors Guild held it annual awards ceremony for the Hollywood elite. Many of the winners are also some of the names expected to do well at this year’s upcoming Academy Awards at the end of February, commonly referred to as the Oscars.
Natalie Portman won for her performance in “Black Swan”. The film has been received well by the critics and is also expected to do in the Oscar race. Taking several awards were actors and directors for their work in “The King’s Speech”. The film is based the real life struggles of the last King of England with a speech impairment.
Something of a surprise for its lack of honors at the SAG awards was director David Fincher, and actor Jesse Eisenberg for their work on “The Social Network.” While the film is still a contender for the Oscars with 12 nominations, many saw Fincher as the favorite to win for Director, but the honors went to Tom Hooper for “The King’s Speech.”
