For only the second time this year, Tiger Woods finds himself in a somewhat unfamiliar position, the top of the leader board. Who would have believed that statement just a few years ago?
On Thursday Woods shot a 65 during the opening round of the Chevron World Challenge underway in Thousand Oaks California. His seven under par performance at the Sherwood Country Club puts Tiger in a good position for the second round on Friday. With eight birdies during the round, Woods tied his lowest round this season.
Since his return to golf, in the wake of his infidelity scandal, Woods has struggled to perform anywhere close to his former self. Said Woods, “It’s nice to play well.” It remains to be seen what will happen over the remaining 54 holes.
